ODOT Traffic Signal Study on State Routes in City

The City of Gallipolis would like to notify all residents that the City has received a grant from ODOT to study the traffic signals on all State Routes in the City. Crews from TEC Engineering out of Mason, Ohio will be doing the work. The project will involve reviewing and updating the timing of the traffic signals in the City to improve traffic flow and address safety concerns.

The first process will be to do a pre-study equipment inspection and correct any problems before the actual studies are done. Travel time studies will be completed to get a baseline to work from before any changes are made and then to measure the impacts of the completed changes. Twenty-four hour mechanical count data will be collected throughout the project area for a minimum of five days. This will allow signals to be set based on the peak and non-peak times of traffic. This project will not affect any traffic movements in the City during this study. The work will not affect any motorists and should provide a much improved traffic flow though the City.

City officials want to thank ODOT for providing this service to the City of Gallipolis to improve traffic flow and safety for all motorists. Any questions can be directed to the City Manager’s Office at 740-446-2489(CITY).
