Precautionary Boil Advisory

Due to a water main break the City of Gallipolis is issuing a Precautionary Boil Advisory. We are advising residents in the following areas, until further notice, to boil any water used drinking, cooking, or oral hygiene:

Le Grande Blvd
Neighborhood Rd

  • DO NOT DRINK THE WATER WITHOUT BOILING IT FIRST. Bring all water to a boil, let it boil for at least one minute, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water. Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation until further notice. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water.

The Gallipolis Public Water System has no evidence at this time that the water system is contaminated. The possibility, however, does exist that the water system is contaminated and is issuing this advisory as a precaution.

What is being done?

We are investigating and taking the necessary steps to correct the problem as soon as possible. For more information, please contact the City water office at 740-441-6003 or 333 Third Avenue, Gallipolis.

General guidelines on ways to lessen the risk of infection by microbes are available from the EPA Safe Drinking Water Hotline at 1(800) 426-4791.
