Fire Department - Training/Education

The Department members complete monthly in-service training, as well as online training and training outside the department. Each member is required to recertify as a firefighter every three years and must have completed the required amount of continuing education hours.

The Gallipolis Fire Department actively provides fire safety education to local businesses, the community and to grade school students. Fire Safety and Fire Extinguisher classes are provided on request. These classes can be provided at Station 1 located at 2018 Chestnut Street or an instructor can come to your facility.

During the 2nd week in October, the Gallipolis Fire Department participates in the National Fire Prevention Week. The department attends the local schools and day care facilities to teach fire safety and fire prevention to the children. Approximately 1,200 children participate each year, mostly kindergarten through 3rd grade students. Also during Fire Prevention Week, tours of Station 1 are conducted for persons of all ages. Each student is given materials that stress the importance of fire safety and fire prevention
