FROM THE DESK OF THE CITY MANAGER
The Summer Months are fast approaching, and work within the city continues.
The Riverfront Project is finally starting to come together. The Contractor Crews are currently working on crosswalks, the swings, and their concrete pads along First Ave, and getting ready for the Brick Pavers for the crosswalk.
The Watermain Project is still ongoing, and currently, the crews are continuing installation of new mains along SR 7 South and the Jackson Pike Area. Included in this project is a new booster station for Sanders Drive.
You may have heard ALOT of discussion about PFAS and Water Filtration. The city has been awarded a 5-million-dollar grant to implement a PFAS Filtration System at our Water Treatment Plant through the State of Ohio. Design Plans are in the works. This Grant is part of a settlement the State received from Dupont and can ONLY be used for the PFAS Filtration System. It CAN NOT be used for anything else.
Our Pickleball Courts at Haskins Park are open for all to enjoy.
We are currently continuing necessary maintenance at the Pool to get ready for opening day, which is planned for Memorial Day Weekend. We are also moving forward with the Splashpad, and construction is slated to begin late in the Summer.
We would like to remind everyone that Gallipolis In Lights will be hosting its annual 5K run on Saturday, May 16, 2026

Gallipolis (pronounced Gal ′ – a – po – lees ′ ) is a beautiful, small city located on the Ohio River in southeastern Ohio. The name derives from the Latin – “Galli” for Gaul or France and the Greek “polis” for city. It is familiarly known as “The City of the Gauls” and The Old French Settlement.” Settled in 1790 by men and women from France – the group popularly known as the French 500 – it has a rich historical background, much of which has been preserved in the Our House Museum. — Gallia County Historical Society
